Dishes

For anyone who know, they know my love for vintage kitschy dishes. I have a huge love for all things pyrex. I just wanted to share a couple of my latest finds. They are wonderful and make me smile.  

 The above image is a fabulous vintage Santa spoon rest. Look at it, doesn't it just make you smile. It is on our stove for holiday season. I found it at one of our local Antiques store (Bernat Antiques). I pick it up for only $1!! Can you believe it?

 This is a amazing fridge glass pyrex. It is a fabulous blue color. No chips or marks. The cover is a perfect. 

I am using it a a little sewing "basket". It is the items that I need at hand to be working on Quinn's quilt. It works perfect, it sit on our end table. I have everything that I need at arms length. 

I also picked that great find up at Bernat for only $5!!! 

I love getting a really great deal.

A book

Over the past weekend we were int he Berkshires visiting my Grandmother and my Aunt. It was a great weekend. We all had a blast, lots of good times had by all. My Aunt knows that I have love of old books. Especially old cookbooks. This book that she gave to me is amazing. It was last published in 1909 by the Success Company in New York. It is titled Household Discoveries and Mrs. Curtis's Cook Book. 

  

 Here I found several four leaf clovers that someone had pressed in the book. How wonderful, it made me smile when I saw them. There is also a recipe for red hot relish that put in with the clovers.

 The illustrations that are in the book are beautiful. There are very few colored ones and they are amazing. and so are the recipes I can not wait to try some.

 There are some interesting information in the book. It covers all sorts of things from cleaning, workshops, sewing, skin and health, taking care of others, even metal and their alloys and melting points. Such a wonderful thing to be given to us.

I am a very lucky lady to have people to have so many people in my life who care and think of me and of course my family. I wanted to share this wonderful book with you. If I remember I will share with you all how things that I try from the book turn out. Sounds like fun to me.

Quilting update

Here is a quick update on Quinn quilt. Well first it is not done, as I knew it would not be done in time for his birthday. And Christmas is fast approaching. I am hoping to at least have the top done by then. Also I have my new machine. It is a Singer 128 with gold sphinx decal on it. I love it. It is a treadle and I love that it is so simple, Quinn is excited to learn how to use it also.

 Here I am Working on it. So fabulous!!

 Here is a good amount of the top done. All the big squares still need to be put together. After that I will lay it all out and put the top together. I am so happy with the way it has been coming together.

Betsy's sewing room/studio

As you all know I have stated to quilt. All with the thanks to my friend Betsy who give me a couple of hours on Sunday afternoons (when we can) to teach and help me through. Last week I was piecing some of my larger blocks together on one of her fabulous vintage singer machines. The one that I used is named Margaret. It is a electric treadle. I would love to have one these. Here is a photo of her sewing room/studio.

 The picture below is the machine I was using and some of my work on it. So far so good. Quinn is hoping the quilt will be done in time for his birthday, I'm hoping in time for Christmas. We will see, either way I love it and so does he. I do another quilting update soon.
